Where the Rekha Mistry story began
Rekha Mistry has been my passion for the last six years and I’m so thrilled to see it come to life. I just knew I had to pursue my passion and launch my own Indian-inspired modern luxury fashion label.

My inspiration came from needing beautiful outfits that seamlessly blend the sumptuous detail and luxury feel of Indian occasion wear with a more modern, British aesthetic. My mother’s saris are truly stunning, but they feel too formal and complicated for me. British occasion wear is beautiful, but it doesn’t work well at our family occasions. I wanted a blend of the best of both worlds.
As a British Indian, born and brought up in the UK, I've been surrounded by incredible outfits at all our special occasions, and they linger in my memory. When I searched for modern Indian clothes, I couldn’t find what I envisioned. I knew I wasn’t the only one struggling to express my Indian heritage, whilst looking sophisticated, and feeling confident and comfortable. So, I designed them myself.

My colour palettes are shaped by my mother’s sari collection, whilst the silhouettes are influenced by contemporary culture. The embroidery is inspired by British and Indian flowers. The collection is infused with expertly crafted design details by Indian artisans, that elevate your any occasion.
A contemporary way for British Indians to honour their heritage
I really want to give British Indians like us a new way to connect with our roots. My clothes are a respectful reinterpretation of heritage Indian clothes. When your mother sees you wearing them, she’ll be overcome by how beautiful you look. She'll appreciate the elements of a sari, and nods to her heritage. She sees her daughter look Indian but also effortlessly modern, and uniquely herself.
Each Rekha Mistry piece is designed by Rekha in England and made in India. They're hand beaded and hand embroidered by artisans in Kolkata.
